THE Philippine men's beach volleyball teams kicked off their 30th Southeast Asian Games on a high note after taking down the squads of Timor Leste on Friday morning at the Subic Tennis Court.
Philippines’ team 1, bannered by James Buytrago and Jaron Requinton, swept Robson Xavier and Christian Jean of Timor Leste 1, 21-13, 21-16.
Jude Garcia and Edmar Bonono of Philippines 2 also made short work of Timor Leste’s Team 2, Silvano Aduauo and Denyanos Belo, 21-7, 21-16.
Both Filipino squads took the early lead in Pool A before they resume their campaign on Sunday afternoon against teams Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the Philippine women's beach volleyball teams, bannered by Sisi Rondina, Bernadeth Pons, as well as the tandem of Dzi Gervacio and Dji Rodriguez begin their campaign against Indonesian squads on Friday afternoon.
