THE Philippine flag on Friday morning was raised at the Athletes’ Village signaling the presence officially of the delegation in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
A flag-raising ceremony was held on Friday as the athletes including the Philippines began checking in at the Athletes’ Village located at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac. The Philippine flag was the last one that was raised being the host country.
All 11 countries participating in the SEA Games already have their delegates inside the Athletes’ Village, according to the SEA Games news service. Most of the athletes will be staying at the Village with Clark in Pampanga being the main hub of the Games.

Present to welcome the athletes are Athletes’ Village mayor Arrey Perez, who is also Bases Conversion Development Authority vice president for Business Development, according to Team Philippines deputy chef de mission Stephen Fernandez.
“It was a very simple program with the either the chief of mission or deputy chief of mission leading the respective delegations. There was an exchange of tokens while Perez gave an inspirational talk, reminding everyone of maintaining the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship when the actual competition begins and urging everyone in making the SEA Games a success,” said Fernandez, who represented chef de mission and Philippine Sports Commission chairman William Ramirez in the flag raising ceremony.
