ANOTHER pair of bronze medals were added to the Philippine fencing team's haul in the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Friday at World Trade Center.
The country's men's sabre and the women's foil teams suffered similar fates as they bowed out at the semifinal stage.
In men's sabre, Vietnam got the better of the Filipinos, 45-38.
The quartet of CJ Concepcion, Eric Brando II, Donnie Arth Navarro and Eunice Daniel Villanueva could not bring the Philippines to the gold medal match and failed to follow up their 45-38 win over Indonesia in the quarterfinals.
The same was the case in the women's foil, with Vietnam also defeating the Philippines, 45-36.
Samantha Kyle Catantan, Maxine Esteban, Wilhelmina Lozada and Justine Gail Tinio weren't able to take advantage despite benefitting from a quarterfinals bye.
The Filipinos have two more days to increase their gold haul, with the men's foil team and the women's epee squad on the strip on Saturday.
