PATTAYA, Thailand – The Philippine baseball team advanced to the finals with an 8-7 win over host country Thailand in a 10-inning thriller on Wednesday in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games at the Queen Sirikit Sports Center in Pathum Thani.
The Pinoy batters scored two runs to close the ballgame and keep their unbeaten streak going at five games, beating the host nation in a match which already served as a preview of the gold-medal showdown.

With still one match left, the Philippines and Thailand have already clinched berths in the championship game on Friday with 5-0 and 4-1 win-loss records, respectively.
On Thursday, the Philippines will play Laos, and Thailand will go up against Malaysia to round out the elims
A throwing error at home plate with the bases loaded by the hosts ended the ballgame that allowed a pair of runs to come in after Thailand took a 7-6 lead midway through the inning.
A grounder by Erwin Bosito went to Thailand third baseman Alexander Clark but his throw to home was an errant one, allowing Ferdinand Liguayan and Cer Gio Gorpido to score easily to win the match.
It was the closest win by the Philippines, which won its previous games by an average margin of 17.25 runs.
