KUALA LUMPUR — Perlas Pilipinas begins its 2017 Southeast Asian Games stint confident but careful as it battles Singapore on Sunday at the MABA Stadium.

Perlas coach Pat Aquino says Singapore cannot be taken lightly, since it competed in Division 2 of the recent Fiba Asia Women's Cup.

Singapore, was the only other Southeast Asian country in the tournament, allowing the team to scout Perlas Pilipinas, which played in Division 1 with Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, and North Korea.

"It's a team that is getting there," said Aquino.

"They have a good program. They are moving forward. Hindi dapat tayo puwedeng mag-relax."

Aquinj added Singapore’s American coach Kirk Murad had been watching the Philippines’ games.

"He is prepared for us. He is the only Southeast Asian team na nandoon sa Level 2,'" said Aquino.

    Gametime is at 7:15 p.m.
