KUALA LUMPUR - Perlas Pilipinas beat Vietnam, 118-44, on Friday in their final game in the 29th Southeast Asian Games women's basketball tournament at the MABA Stadium.
Perlas finished the round-robin tournament with a 4-2 win-loss slate, with a bronze medal still a possibility. They, however, hope for a loss from Thailand in its next two games to win a bronze medal.
Thailand holds a 3-1 win-loss record following the victory of Perlas over Vietnam and needs to sweep its remaining match against Indonesia on Friday and Malaysia on Saturday to clinch a medal.
Perlas, however, must not finish in a tie with Indonesia as it won over the Philippine women's squad earlier in the tournament.
Cindy Resultay had 26 points and eight steals, while Raisa Palmera-Dy added 23 points for Perlas, which was coming off a 60-56 loss to Malaysia on Thursday.
Perlas began the rout when they outscored Vietnam, 32-2, in the second period.
