SINGAPORE – Pauline Lopez and Samuel Morrison gave taekwondo two gold medals for the Philippines in the 28th Southeast Asian Games on Sunday by beating their respective Vietnamese foes in the finals at the Expo Hall here.
Lopez defeated Pham Thi Thu Hien, 20-12, in the women’s under 57kg gold medal bout, while Morrison followed suit with a 19-12 win over Phan Trung Duc in the men’s under 68kg class on the final day of taekwondo competitions.
The victory hiked the country's gold medal tally to 28, just one short of the total gold output it won during the 2013 edition of the biennial meet in Myanmar, with still two days left before the event officially comes to a close.
