PATTAYA, Thailand – The Philippine men’s football and women’s futsal team failed to replicate the Filipinas' feat of winning a medal in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, losing both their matches for bronze on Thursday in separate venues.
The U-22 men’s team lost to Malaysia, 2-1, at the Rajamangala National Stadium, while the Filipina5 was defeated by host Thailand, 5-0, at the Bangkokthonburi University, a day after the Filipinas bagged the gold medal in women’s football.

Sahaludin Hakimi opened scoring for Malaysia in the 28th, but allowed the Philippines to tie the game on an own goal by Rosli Azim in 36th.
Azim, howevevr, atoned for his mistake by scoring in the 43rd, and the lead held up from there.
The Philippine men’s team went home medal-less after going undefeated in the group stage, including a 1-0 win over Indonesia, the champion in the last edition. They then lost to Vietnam, 2-0, in the semifinals.
In women's futsal, Arriya (3rd), Sasikarn (6th), Paerploy (7th), Jenjira (35th), and Suchanat (39th) scored for Thailand, which like the Philippines, is coming off a stint in the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup in Pasig City.
The Filipina5 won one out of two matches in the group stage against Malaysia, 3-1, with the loss coming at the hands of Thailand, 7-1.
The side led by Inday Tolentin lost to Vietnam, 1-0, in the semifinals, with the Thais also relegated to the bronze medal match after a 7-6 loss to Indonesia on penalties after a 4-4 deadlock.
