NESTHY Petecio reasserted her supremacy by capturing the gold medal in the women’s featherweight division of the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the PICC Forum.
The reigning world champion beat Oo New Ni of Myanmar via unanimous decision, 30-24, 30-26, 30-27, 30-24, 30-24, as the Philippines concluded its campaign in women’s boxing with two gold medals.
Petecio had an outright place in the final due to lack of entries but didn’t show any rust as she joined Josie Gabuco as gold medal winners for the Philippines in women’s boxing's return to the SEA Games after it was scrapped in 2017 in Kuala Lumpur.
Petecio has also ended her personal gold medal drought, having placed second in 2011, 2013, and 2015 editions.
