Myanmar pads lead in SEA Games medal tally

Dec 9, 2013

THE Philippines finally won breakthrough gold medals in the 27th Southeast Asian Games, but host Myanmar continues to lord over the medal standings after winning golds in wushu and chnilone on Monday.

The host remained on top with 13 golds, three silvers, and six bronzes (as of 8 p.m. Monday), with still two days to go before the formal opening ceremony.

The Philippines, meanwhile, is currently in sixth place despite wushu bets Jessie Aligaga and Denbert Arcita bagging a gold each in their respective sanda events.

The Filipinos also have three silvers and a bronze medal.

Vietnam is now in second with 6-3-5 (gold-silver-bronze) followed by Indonesia (4-4-6), Thailand (3-6-1), and Malaysia (3-5-11).

Behind the Philippines are Laos (1-2-8), Cambodia (0-4-5), and Singapore (0-1-2).

Brunei and Timor Leste have yet to win a medal.
