SI RACHA, Thailand - John Derick Farr captured the Philippines' first medal in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, claiming the bronze in the men's mountain bike downhill run at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo.

Farr clocked two minutes, 43.676 seconds to placed second in the final won by Thailand's Methasit Boonsane, who timed 2:37.856.
“Nakaka-proud din po dahil ako po ‘yung naka-first medal sa Philippines ngayon and hopefully, madagdagan pa po and alam ko pong dadami pa po ‘yan,” said Farr when told that he won the first medal of the country in the SEA Games.

Farr garnered the bronze after an improvement in his time during the seeding run on Tuesday.
“’Yung performance ko kanina, I could say na nag-improve po kahit papaano kasi nababa ko po yung time ko yesterday ng 2:48 to 2:43. Malaking achievement din po siya para sa akin and I would say na hard-earned medal po talaga yung nakuha ko,” Farr said.
