THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has started closing roads in the vicinity of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex as the 30th Southeast Asian Games nears.
The northbound lane of M. Adriatico Street where the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium is located has now been closed to all vehicles, while the southbound lane though still passable has been turned into a two-way lane.
The Rizal Memorial Football Stadium will play host to the men’s football competitions of the SEA Games. Although the opening ceremony will be on November 30, action in men’s football will begin on Monday, when matches include one between the Philippine Azkals and Cambodia.

Adriatico Street is one of the anticipated chokepoints during the Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 showpiece mainly because of its proximity to the Rizal Complex which will also host the gymnastics, tennis, soft tennis, weightlifting, and taekwondo competitions.
Other chokepoints include SLEX northbound, Mindanao Avenue-North Avenue to NLEX, Roxas Boulevard corner Gil Puyat, Roxas Boulevard corner Pablo Ocampo Street, Quirino Avenue corner Adriatico Street, Shaw Boulevard corner Pioneer Street, N. Domingo-Filoil Flying V Centre, and Lawton Avenue corner Bayani Road.
