MERVIN Guarte and Sandi Abahan completed the sweep of the Philippine obstacle course racing team of all the events in the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Friday at the Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
Guarte and Abahan ruled the five-kilometer x 20 obstacle, giving the Philippines six gold medals in the event that is debuting in the SEA Games.

The victory was perhaps sweeter for Guarte, who competed previouly in the SEA Games previously with the athletics team.
Sherwin Managil and Glorien Merisco made it a 1-2 finish for the Philippines in both divisions.
Guarte clocked 25 minutes and 31 seconds, while Managil was 45 seconds behind.
Mohd Pittli Mohd Saddam of Malaysia bagged the bronze with a time of 28:02.

Abahan won the country’s first gold of the day with a time of 33:30, beating compatriot Merisco by six minutes and 30 seconds. Sorvimane Khamla of Laos finished third with a time of 55:27.
Rochelle Suarez and Popoy Rivera captured the women’s and men’s 100-meter individual x 10 obstacle, while the mixed team relay team of Diana Buhler, Jeffrey Reginio, Klymille Keilah Rodriguez, and Nathaniel Sanchez, and the mixed team assist team of Kyle Redentor Antolin, Kaizen Dela Serna, Monolito Divina, and Deanne Nicole Moncada also claimed the gold.
