SINGAPORE — Myanmar sent the Philippine volleyball team back to earth, scoring a 25-16, 25-14, 33-31 victory on Thursday in the 28th Southeast Asian Games men’s volleyball tournament at the OCBC Arena Hall 2.

The Philippines fought hard in the third set, but Myanmar held on to complete a straight sets victory to even their win-loss record to 1-1.

The Filipino spikers now also hold a 1-1 card after winning their opening match against Malaysia in four sets.

Aung Thu had 27 points for Myanmar.

Marck Espejo had 14 points for the Philippines, which will face Thailand on Sunday for a semifinal berth.

Thailand has a 1-0 record in the tournament.
