THE Philippines will face reigning Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Vietnam in the women’s semifinals of the football competitions.
The Malditas will be playing Vietnam after Myanmar beat Malaysia, 5-0, and Thailand beat Indonesia, 5-1, on Monday during the women’s football matches at the Biñan Football Stadium and Rizal Memorial Football Stadium respectively.
The Philippines-Vietnam match is on Thursday, 8 p.m. at the Biñan Football Stadium.
The result led to Myanmar taking the top spot in Group A over the Philippines. Myanmar and the Philippines both have four points as well as a +5 goal difference but Myanmar took first place based on the fair play criteria tiebreak.
Myanmar has one yellow card, while the Philippines has three.
Vietnam, meanwhile, got the top spot in Group B even with similar four points over Thailand due to a superior goal difference of +4.
Thailand will face Myanmar in the other semifinal match on Thursday, 8 p.m. at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
