LEA Salonga said she won't be able to perform in the opening ceremonies of the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Saturday at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The multi-awarded singer begged off due to a prior commitment.
Salonga will star in the play "Sweeney Todd" together with fellow Filipino artist Jett Pangan in Singapore from November 28 to December 8.
"Leaving on a jet plane for Singapore tomorrow and will begin our 14-show Sweeney run on Thursday night. This means I will not be performing at the SEA Games opening ceremonies on Saturday. I won’t be back home til after Sweeney is done," the Tony Award winner said in a tweet.
Salonga was set to perform together with maestro Ryan Cayabyab in rites that will formally open the Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 showpiece.
The two performed "We Win As One," the official theme song of the 2019 edition of the SEA Games.
