PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - Jean Claude Saclag bagged his third straight title in the Southeast Asian Games as kickboxing contributed to the Philippines' gold medal haul on Monday at the Morodok Elephant Hall 1.
Saclag defeated Rakim Sam of Cambodia in the low kick men's -63kg to win the gold.
Saclag drew a first round bye and defeated Dimitri Kyttanasilalack of Laos before his conquest of the weight category for the third straight time.
Four kickboxers will vie for gold on Tuesday with Gina Iniong looking to win her second SEA Games gold but in the lighter -55kg division. Also in the finals are Jeremy Pacatiw, Gretel Depaz, and Claudine Veloso.
Renalyn Dacquel and Fitzchel Fermato took the silver medals in the women’s full contact -48kg and -50kg respectively on Monday.
