JUNE Mar Fajardo’s ankle injury obviously hasn’t been fully healed.
The 6-foot-10 San Miguel star missed Monday’s first Gilas practice session with Tim Cone as he still favored the injury he suffered during the recent FIBA World Cup.
Coach Tim Cone said Fajardo failed to attend the two-hour session due to the ankle issue and would have not joined the team in scrimmage even if he’s around.
“He would not have practiced on court with us. He would have been on the side with Chris (Standhardinger) and Marcio (Lassiter). But we’re hoping (he could join us next time),” said Cone after practice.

Cone said the team couldn’t afford not to have Fajardo in the lineup that he wants him to be healthy come the SEA Games.
“Obviously he’s the cornerstone of the national team, him and Jayson (Castro),” stressed the Barangay Ginebra mentor.
“So we need him on the team and we need him to be healthy, (so) we’ be patient with him. Again he’s one of the guys who could pick up the stuff really fast.”
