PHILIPPINE men's volleyball team captain Johnvic de Guzman called for a stop to all the bashing and instead asked to unite in supporting the squad as they face Indonesia in the 29th Southeast Asian Games on Wednesday in MITEC Hall 11 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The nationals drew flak from netizens after they lost to 2015 SEA Games silver medalist Vietnam in four sets on Monday.

The amount of bashing seemed too much already for de Guzman, who tried to lift up the morale of his team.

"I thank everyone who supported (us) sa game, I hope ituloy lang po nila 'yung pagsuporta sa mga miyembro ng team na lumalaban and instead po na maghanap ng wala at mang-bash sa mga errors," said de Guzman.

"Palitan na lang po nila ng dasal mas makakatulong po 'yun sa amin kesa mangutya. If they can't provide trust and support po talaga hindi po namin ipipilit, but all we ask is a little amount of respect," he added.

But de Guzman kept his head held high as they go up against 2015 SEA Games bronze medalist Indonesia at 7:00 p.m.

The former College of St. Benilde ace chose to stick to the positives hoping to stay in the semifinals race.

"After the loss, nagusap-usap po kami as a team. We reminded each other of the sacrifices, 'yung challenges, 'yung tiwala, 'yung pagmamahal ng lahat ng Pilipino na sumusuporta po sa amin," he said.
