TAGAYTAY – Jermyn Prado captured the gold medal in the women’s individual time trial as the road races in cycling kicked off on Thursday in the Southeast Asian Games.
Prado negotiated the route from Nasugbu, Batangas to the Praying Monument here at 44 minutes, 44.742 seconds to win the gold medal.

Luo Yiwei of Singapore placed second with a time of 44:48.518, while Somrat Phetdarin of Thailand finished third with 44:58.152.
Prado made a late push in the 23.1-kilometer course to take the win by nearly four seconds. She collapsed later shortly after crossing the finish line.
“Tinodo ko na po eh. Sobrang hirap. Pero paid off lahat ng sakripisyo po namin. Sobrang saya po,” said Prado, a member of the Philippine Navy-Standard Insurance Continental Team.
Prado is the third gold medal winner in cycling following the conquest of Lea Denise Belgira and John Derick Farr in the mountain bike.
Marella Salamat placed seventh in the race with a time of 45:59.275.
The men’s team of Mark Galedo and Ronald Oranza, meanwhile, will look to sweep the individual time trial as they compete here at 1 p.m.
