JAMES Palicte scored a unanimous decision over Nguyen Van Hai of Vietnam on Monday for the Philippines’ fourth gold medal in the boxing competitions of the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the PICC Forum.

Palicte got the nod of all the five judges, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28, to claim the light welterweight gold medal.
The 25-year-old Palicte captured his first SEA Games gold medal, to join Carlo Paalam, Rogen Ladon, and Josie Gabuco in the winners circle in this year’s biennial meet.

Marjon Pianar, meanwhile, settled for the silver medal after bowing to Wuttichai Masuk of Thailand via unanimous decision with all five judges scoring the match, 30-27.
