PATTAYA, Thailand – World No. 1 Islay Bomogao beat a Thai foe while LJ Rafael Yasay scored a knockout victory as muay picked up two gold medals on Wednesday in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.
Bomogao, a world champion in 2023 and unbeaten professional fighter competing in ONE Championship, beat Thailand’s Arissara Non Eiad, 29-28, after getting two rounds to claim the gold in the women’s -45kg division.

“Sobrang saya ko po kasi I won versus the host country,” said Bomagao in an interview by POC Media Pool. “’Yung kalaban ko, superstar talaga siya dito. It feels so nice to beat someone at that level.”
Yasay, meanwhile, earned a scintillating knockout victory over Malaysia’s Rumijam Insyad in the men’s -51kg division.

Tyron Jamborillo could only come up with a silver after bowing to Krittanu Saladkaew of Thailand in the men’s 45kg.
