KUALA LUMPUR - Carlo Biado beat Duong Quoc Hoang of Vietnam, 9-5, on Sunday night to capture the men's 9-ball gold in the 29th Southeast Asian Games billiards tournament at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Biado, who recently ruled the same event in the World Games, sustained his fine form to complete a Philippine sweep of the 9-ball gold medals following the win of Chezka Centeno in the all-Filipina women's final.
Biado opened a 5-1 lead in the race-to-nine match and never looked back as he won his second Sea Games gold after winning the doubles crown in Singapore two years ago.
"Kumpiyansa na ako nung nakuha ko 'yung break ko. Kada break ko, laging may nahuhulog. Nakakadagdag ng kumpiyansa. Every time na nagbe-break ako, laging open 'yung bola," said the 33-year-old Biado.
Biado also made a tough combination to sink the nine ball for a 6-2 lead and reached hill at 8-4. Still, Biado needed a bank shot on the three in the 14th rack to finally open the table and set up the win.
Biado will next compete in 9-ball event in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan this September.
