CHONBURI, Thailand – Hidilyn Diaz placed fourth in the women’s weightlifting 58kg division of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games on Sunday at the Chonburi Sports School.
The Tokyo Olympic gold medalist registered 90 kilos in the snatch, and 110kg in the clean jerk for a 200kg total, but not enough for a podium finish.

Diaz apologized after missing a medal, admitting that she wasn’t at her best especially on the mental side after failing to qualify in the Paris Olympics.
“First, I want to say sorry but I did my best," said Diaz, who won gold in Tokyo at 55kg and admitted failing to reach that weight 'due to injury' in the lead-up to the Bangkok Games.
Prior to the SEA Games, the 34-year-old Diaz tempered expectations about her medal hopes due to her juggling multiple roles training, coaching, and holding other activities to grow weightlifting in the Philippines.
Diaz registered the 90kg on her second attempt, and failed to lift the 92-kg barbell on her final try in the snatch.

The two-time SEA Games champion hit 110 on her first attempt at the clean and jerk, but was unable to lift 115 and 116 that could have put her in contention for a medal.
The gold medal was won by Yodsarn Suratwadee of Thailand with a total of 224.
