PATTAYA, Thailand – The Philippine women’s football team goes for another historic feat on Wednesday when it goes up against Vietnam for the gold medal of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. (8:30 p.m. Philippine time) at the Chonburi Daikin Stadium.
The Filipinas already made history by reaching the gold medal match for the first time by beating host Thailand, 4-2, in penalties after a 1-1 tie in regulation.

The Philippines also beat Vietnam, 1-0, in the group stage match, but head coach Mark Torcaso said repeating the same result would be difficult.

“We absolutely respect our opponent,” said Torcaso. “It would be a different game. It’s a gold medal match. I know both teams will fight extremely hard. I hope that both teams can make our country proud.”
“We’re extremely proud as a country for our team to be in this final match for the very first time and we're going to give our absolute all to make sure that we show the country and show the world that we are here to play,” he added.
Vietnam has been reigning the SEA Games women’s football event in eight out of the last 10 editions.
