Filipinos make waves in SEA Games wakeboarding

NEW Clark City – Filipinos clinched six of 15 medals in the three-day wakeboarding event in the 30th Southeast Asian Games, a huge improvement from the one medal clinched in the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Games.

Jhondi Wallace won the men’s wakeskate open, getting 70.33 points to beat Thailand's Polapat Romchatngoen, whose performances earned him 60.00 points. Another home bet Christian Joson clinched bronze with 64.33 points.

Susan Larsson dominated the women’s event open with 61.00 points, beating Thip Penpayap of Thailand, who scored 50.00 points. Singapore's Alysha Rizwan gained bronze with 39.33 points.

Thailand's Sanya Ponthip won with a 72.67 the men's wakeboard open over Raphael Trinidad, who scored 69.33 , while 18-year-old Ralph Villaro bagged bronze.
