“Goal talaga namin na kahit anong medal basta may podium kami walang problema,” said Rondina.

“Pinakita din namin kung ano ‘yung meron mga Pilipino. Kaya natin ipakita sa taga ibang bansa na kaya natin,” she added.

The last time the Philippines won a medal in beach volleyball was in 2005 edition of the biennial meet in Manila courtesy of Heidi Ilustre and Diane Pascua.

“Sobrang saya namin kasi last na nag medal Philippines is 2005 pa so sobrang tagal na rin ‘yun,” said Pons.

Meanwhile, after their match, the Philippine team cheered and celebrated for Indonesia, which defeated Vietnam in their own round robin match.

Indonesia’s win allowed the Filipinas to claim bronze.
