Elvie Baldivino rules women's precision pistol to give Philippines seventh gold medal

SINGAPORE — Elvie Baldivino delivered the Philippines’ seventh gold in the 28th Southeast Asian Games after ruling the women’s precision pistol on Monday at the National Shooting Centre.

The 34-year-old Baldivino beat Norizan Mustafa of Singapore, 230-228, giving shooting its first gold in the biennial meet.

Baldivino advanced to the quarterfinals after finishing second in the five-series qualification round with a 1460. In the semifinals, she also finished second with 230, with Mustafa first with 234.

The women's team of Baldivino, Carmelita Guillermo, Franchette Shayne Quiros scored 1700 to bag silver behind Thailand, which scored 1723.
