HANOI – Elreen Ando settled for a silver medal in weightlifting as she bowed to Pham Thi Hong Thanh of Vietnam in the women’s 64 kilograms at the Hanoi Sports and Training Center.
The Tokyo Olympian actually had a solid showing in the competition with a lift of 223 kilograms, initially a SEA Games record.

But Pham was just too strong in the competition with a total lift of 230 kilograms to set a new SEA Games mark and easily secure the gold medal.

The 23-year-old Ando registered 103 kilograms in the snatch, just a kilogram behind Pham. Ando had a good lift of 120 in the clean and jerk, but failed at her two attempts at 125.
The Vietnamese then registered 126 to claim the gold medal.
