KUALA LUMPUR — Daniel Parantac fell way short in his bid for a third straight gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games, missing a podium spot in the wushu competitions on Sunday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.

Parantac scored 9.56 points in the taijijian, not enough to earn a medal.

Jack Chang Loh of Malaysia won the gold with a score of 9.67 points, while Bobie Valentinus Gunawan of Indonesia took silver with 9.65 points and Jun Kai Chan of Singapore bagged the bronze with 9.62.

Parantac, part of the Philippine wushu team that trained in China, said in an interview prior to the SEA Games he suffered an MCL injury last year that affected his preparations for the biennial meet.
