A SEND-OFF event for Team Philippines will be held on November 27 before they plunge into action in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.
The event will be held at the residence of Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco at Forbes Park, Makati City.
Officials hope to give the athletes a boost in morale during the send-off before they compete with other athletes from Southeast Asian countries from December 11 to 22 in Naypyitaw and Yangoon.
Although the SEA Games proper will be held in the middle of the next month, several Filipino athletes will already begin play as early as December 6 when wushu opens its competition.
The men’s basketball team will also compete early as the start of the tournament will be held on December 8. The boxing competitions will also start on the same day.
The women’s football team dubbed as the Malditas will also play on December 9.
An advance party will depart for Myanmar on December 1 to open the Athletes Village for Team Philippines.
