MARIA Claire Adorna and Nikko Huelgas will defend their triathlon titles in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) secretary general Tom Carrasco said the federation enlisted Adorna and Huelgas for the event set in August.

Also joining the triathlon delegation are Singapore SEA Games silver medalist Kim Mangrobang and John Chicano. Ani De Leon-Brown and Melvin Fausto are the head coaches.

Adorna delivered the first of the 29 gold medals the country won two years ago despite a torn tendon in her left ankle that she sustained during the build-up.

Part of the team’s preparation for the SEA Games is training in Portugal and Thailand with support from the Philippine Sports Commission.
