WEIGHTLIFTING collected medals on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium before Hidilyn Diaz plunges into action in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
John Fabliar Ceniza captured a silver medal in the men’s 55-kilogram division with a total lift of 252, while Mary Flor Diaz snared a bronze in the women’s 45kg class with a 159.
Diaz will be competing in the women’s 55kg class where she will be vying for her first-ever SEA Games gold medal.
Diaz said the SEA Games forms part of her preparations for qualifying tournaments for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Ceniza finished second to Vietnam's Lai Gia Thanh, who took the gold with a 264kg effort.
Diaz, cousin of Hidilyn, finished behind gold-medalist Vuong Thi Huyen of Vietnam and silver medal winner Setiawati Lisa of Indonesia.
