THE bid of Caloy Yulo to sweep all events in the men’s artistic gymnastics ended on Tuesday after settling for the silver in the pommel horse at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Minutes after he ruled the floor exercise, Yulo placed second in the pommel horse with a score of 13.233. He was leading after the fifth gymnast when Tan Fu Jie of Malaysia dislodged the Filipino with a score of 13.967.
Tan later won the gold over Yulo in the event, with Dinh Phuong Thanh of Vietnam placing third with 12.867.
With the result, Yulo will not be able to sweep all seven events in the men’s artistic gymnastics after he won the individual all-around on Sunday and the floor exercise on Tuesday.
Still, Yulo’s performance is still a respectable finish, with the world champion still vying for another gold in the still rings.
