    Buses bringing foreign athletes to SEA Games opening collide in NLEX

    Minor accident mars hours before opening ceremony of 30th SEA Games

    AN accident involving two buses with athletes on board marred the hours leading up to the opening ceremony of the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Saturday at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

    Just hours before the opening, two buses with athletes from New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac collided while on their way to the Philippine Arena via NLEX, Phisgoc spokesperson Jarie Osias confirmed to the Inquirer.

    Osias said windows were shattered but no one was hurt in the accident.

    Except for the minor accident, there were no other untoward incidents reported as spectators flocked to the Philippine Arena for the opening rites where athletes from 11 nations including the Philippines will join the traditional marchpast.

    Sketchy details bared the buses were carrying athletes and officials from the Cambodia, Laos and a few members of the Philippine delegation.

    Phisgoc bared the accident happened near the Bocaue toll gate of NLEX.

    Philippine athletes from Manila went to the Philippine Arena in a convoy of buses with escorts to ensure that they will not get caught in heavy traffic on their way to Bocaue.
