SONGKHLA will no longer host events of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games due to the recent flooding in the area in south Thailand.
The Nation reported that the 10 events scheduled in Songkhla will be moved to Bangkok following a decision by the Thailand SEA Games Organizing Committee.
SEA Games change of plans
Songkhla was supposed to be the third site of the Games, together with Bangkok and Chonburi, and was scheduled to host a couple of events where the Philippines is a strong title contender, among them boxing.
Also supposed to be held in Songkhla are pencak silat, men’s football, chess, judo, kabaddi, karate, wrestling, petanque, and wushu.
Floods were reported in the SEA Games venues in the city of Pru Kang Khao, the main hub of the Games in Songkhla.
