AFRIL Bernardino, Clare Castro, and Janine Pontejos head the Gilas Pilipinas Women players listed by the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas for the 31st Southeast Asian Games.
The three players were joined by Khate Castillo, Chack Cabinbin, Andrea Tongco, Kristine Cayabyab, Camille Clarin, Angel Surada, Gemma Miranda, Karl Ann Pingol, Katrina Guytingco, Gabi Bade, Ella Fajardo, Monique Del Carmen, Stephanie Berberabe, Malia Bambrick and Mai Loni Henson.
Bernardino, Castro, and Pontejos were part of the Gilas Pilipinas Women squad that won two gold medals in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games after being part of the 5-on-5 and 3x3 team, a first in the history of the country.
Afril Bernardino and the Gilas Women return to action.
National coach Pat Aquino, however, said the list is still provisionary and not final as it was submitted to comply with the Vietnam SEA Games Organizing Committee (Viesgoc).
Bade, daughter of former PBA player Cris Bade, could make her SEA Games debut along with Berberabe, Bambrick, and Henson, players that Aquino scouted and recruited in the US for the national team.
Cabinbin and Tongco are the two other players that were also part of the 2019 squad that captured the gold alongside the men’s team at the Mall of Asia Arena.
