KUALA LUMPUR - Aries Toledo and Trenten Anthony Beram won a pair of late gold medals in athletics to perk up the Philippines campaign in the 29th Southeast Asian Games at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Toledo captured the decathlon gold with a score of 6,849 points while Beram clocked 20.84 seconds to rule the men's 200-meter run, saving the Philippines from laying a big, fat zero on Wednesday night.

Toledo easily beat Suttisak Singkon of Thailand and Bui Van Su of Vietnam (6,207) to deliver the fourth gold medal for the Philippines in athletics - and the 10th for the delegation overall.

Beram earlier beat Jirapong Meenapara of Thailand, who checked in at 21.22 seconds, with Thevarr Gunasegaran of Malaysia crossing third with a time of 21.26 seconds.
