SUBIC, Zambales — Muya Thai fighters added two golds and two silvers to the Philippines’ haul, winning two of the three events in the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center on Sunday.
Ariel Lee Lampa and Philip Delarmino defeated their respective foes as the former ruled the men’s 54kg weight class and the latter topped the men’s 57kg weight class.
Lampa dominated Sakchai Chamchi of Thailand via unanimous decision (29-28), while Delarmino bested Long Doan Nguyen of Vietnam via unanimous decision (29-28).
“‘Yung pinaghirapan naming may bunga rin,” said Delarmino, who started out in boxing matches during fiestas in Dumangas, Iloilo.
In the women’s division, Islay Erika Bomogao, Jenelyn Olsim and Norapat Khundam settle for the silver in their respective weight class.
Bomogao bowed to Ketmanee Chasing of Thailand in the women’s 45kg and Olsim fell short to Bui Yen Ly of Vietnam in 54kg.
Meanwhile, Ryan Jakiri lost via referee's stoppage during the second round of his bout against Thailand's Norapat Khundam.
