NEW CLARK CITY – The pair of Rachel Anne Dela Cruz and Paul Marton Dela Cruz saved the day for Philippine archery by winning the gold in the mixed team compound of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
The husband and wife tandem beat the Vietnamese duo of Kieu Oanh Chau and Van Day Nguyen, 148-147, at the Parade Grounds to finally hit the target for a sport that has been expected to deliver several gold medals for the host country.
The gold is the only medal the Filipino archers won in the event that came to a close on Monday.
