IF there's something Alisson Krystle Perticheto learned from her SEA Games run two years back, it's that she couldn't feel at ease with her position.
The Fil-Swiss figure skater finished second after the short program in Kuala Lumpur in 2017, but slid to fourth in the free skate to settle for the bronze medal.
Now after topping the short program in the ice skating event of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Perticheto wants to tighten her hold of the pole position to deliver a gold medal.
"In 2017 in the short program, I was second. So now, I'm first I gotta try to keep myself calm and try to do my free skate the best," she said, aware that she still needs to put up a strong showing in the second phase of the competitions even after her 53.65 points in short program.
Hot on her heels is Chloe Ing, who sits at second with her 50.70 points after the short program.
The Singaporean skater leapfrogged Perticheto two years back with her solid performance in free skate, allowing her to snag the silver in 2017.
But rather than be mindful of her pursuers, Perticheto is approaching Sunday's free skate focused, with her main goal locked in on completing a perfect run.
"Honestly, I came here to do my job and drill in my jumps and do what I've learned," said the 22-year-old.

And Petricheto is heading in confident, buoyed by the warm support she garnered from the Filipino fans who watched her routine at SM Megamall Skating Rink.
"It's amazing. I feel very thankful and grateful that a lot of people are supporting me and us, and it's another feeling and feels amazing. It really motivates me," she said.
