ALAS Pilipinas is planning a last-minute swap that would see wing spiker Alleiah Malaluan replaced with a third setter in Julia Coronel for its final roster in the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand.
Question is, will the move push through?
SPIN.ph learned that the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has yet to issue an official go-signal for the late player swap.
However, Coronel already attended Wednesday’s sen-doff event for the Alas squads, while Malaluan was notably absent and has been withdrawn from national team activities.
As of posting time, though, Malaluan remains listed as part of the Philippine delegation on the SEA Games’ official website.
If the adjustment is approved, Alas will carry three setters in Coronel, Mars Alba, and team captain Jia de Guzman.
The wing spiker group would be trimmed to six with Angel Canino, Alyssa Solomon, Bella Belen, Eya Laure, Vanie Gandler, and Shaina Nitura leading from the front.

Both the men’s and women’s indoor volleyball teams will fly to Bangkok on Monday, a day before the opening ceremonies of the biennial meet.
The Filipinos open their campaign on Dec. 11 against host nation and 14-time defending champion Thailand, while Alas Men begins its own on Dec. 13 vs. Myanmar.
