PH contingent to Singapore SEA Games balloons to 460 as floorball makes cut, bowling dropped

Number of Filipino athletes going to Singapore SEA Games now 460 as floorball makes cut and bowling team dropped
Apr 16, 2015

A TOTAL of 460 athletes will see action for the Philippines in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games after the bowling team was cut and floorball was included in the delegation.

The athletes lineup was made final on Wednesday.

Philippine chef de mission Julian Camacho said the Philippine Olympic Committee board approved the participation of 274 male and 186 female athletes that will see action in the biennial meet in Singapore.

Camacho said the POC dropped the 12-member bowling team from the list, citing internal issues within the Philippine Bowling Congress and with the poor performance of the bowlers in past international competitions as reasons for their exclusion.

Floorball, an indoor version of field hockey, has also been added to the delegation. Floorball is sending 20 athletes funded by a private sponsor.

One hundred twenty-eight officials and coaches will also go to the Games, bringing the total number of the delegation to 588.
