RUBILEN Amit came back from behind to beat Pia Filler of Germany, 9-8, on Friday at the start of her campaign in the 2022 World Games women’s 9-ball competition in Birmingham, Alabama.
Amit needed to win the final three racks of the contest to make it through to the quarterfinals where she will face another German foe in Veronika Ivanovskaia.

The win by the 40-year-old Amit was similar to the victory of Carlo Biado in the men’s side on Thursday where he won the final two racks to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
Amit, the second-seed in the tournament, saw her 3-1 start extinguished by the play of Filler, who reached hill, 8-6, only to squander that lead.
Ivanovskaia will meet the two-time Hanoi Southeast Asian Games gold medalist after beating Soledad Ayala, 9-1.
