THE RIZAL Memorial Sports Complex was spared by floods that hit surrounding areas in Manila, no thanks to the monsoon rains on Monday.
Philippine Sports Commission employees said there was deep flooding on the Pablo Ocampo St. (formerly Vito Cruz), but flood water deep enough to hit the sports complex’ premises, most notably the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
There was also deep floods along nearby Taft Avenue due to heavy monsoon rains that began over the weekend and ravaged Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Sports events in the metropolis including the NCAA basketball games were postponed due to heavy rains.
