Philippine Sports Institute to offer international sports education courses

THE Philippine Sports Institute (PSI) will offer international courses in sports management, coaching ang physical education with the support of the United States Sports Academy (USSA).

The USSA will be providing instructors and the curriculum for PSI, according to the Philippine Sports Commission.

The PSI is expected to accept 100 students — 20 from the PSC's middle and top managers, 40 from Philippine Olympic Committee and national sports association officers, 20 from state colleges and universities, 10 from the Department of Education and 10 from private colleges and universities.

Classes are expected to be held in July, September and November this year, and January, March, and April of 2019.

The PSC is allotting P25 million for the program which was sealed after PSC officials visited USSA president and chief executive officer Dr. TJ Rosandich.

“I think this is one of the missing links. If it can help sports in the country, then all the more reason we are happy to pursue it,” said PSC chairman William Ramirez in a press conference on Wednesday.
