THE Philippine Sports Commission is now in the process of assessing the damage to the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex which wasn't spared of the floods that hit Metro Manila.

Earlier reports said the historic sports complex was spared by the floods but that changed after heavy rains caused by storm ‘Maring’ continued on Tuesday and Wednesday.

PSC employees said knee-deep floods along Pablo Ocampo Street in Manila eventually spilled over into the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum as well as the baseball park.

Floods reached all the way to the perimeter of the track and field stadium and the boxing gym inside the complex, which is located in a flood-prone area in Malate, Manila.

The flooding at the baseball field even became a subject on YouScoop, a segment of GMA News where citizens are encouraged to submit photos.

The flood waters, however, subsided quickly after the weather started to improved.
