THE Philippine Sports Commission has formed a committee to look into the controversy surrounding two head coaches from the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (Patafa).

PSC chairman Ritchie Garcia said the committee will be tasked to decide on the fate of head coaches Joseph Sy and Roselyn Hamero, who allegedly tampered with the attendance records and other documents of athletes training in Baguio City.

“We will ask for a detailed explanation answering the allegations,” said Garcia during a press briefing at the PSC office on Monday.

Sy and Hamero's monthly allowances have been withheld through a memorandum made by PSC commissioner Jolly Gomez citing negligence on their duties and responsibilities as head coaches.

Longtime Patafa president Go Teng Kok subsequently threatened to sue the PSC and Gomez for interference and abuse of authority.

Garcia said the committee will hear the side of two coaches.

“Since they believe that hindi sila binigyan ng proper hearing, we are giving it now. If the accusation is supported and more so coming from a commissioner, we will act on it because we are here to protect government funds,” said Garcia.
