THE Philippine Sports Commission has released the incentives for the top three LGUs in the 2016 Batang Pinoy National Championship in Tagum City.
Baguio City received P500,000 as overall champion of last year's national championship, according to PSC senior executive assistant Ronnel Abrenica.
Cebu City earned P300,000 for finishing second, while Davao City received P150,000 after getting third spot. The incentives will be used for the LGUs’ sports programs.
Over 14,000 children participated in the 2016 edition.
Davao City administrator Zuleika Lopez and city sports development division officer-in-charge Michael Denton Aportadera recently received the incentives for Davao at the PSC office.
"The incentives offered to the winners are not a lot, but it shows the PSC’s recognition for the LGU's efforts in becoming partners for sports development," Abrenica said.
"Most importantly, it shows appreciation for the hard work of the children during their preparation and participation in the Games."
This year, qualifying legs in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be held for the national championships set in February 2018.
