THE Philippine Sports Commission has begun the search for the immediate familyof basketball great Loreto ‘Bonnie’ Carbonell and track and field standout Josephine dela Vina, who are both set to be inducted into the Philippine Sports Hall of Fame.
The PSC posted on its social media accounts an advisory seeking help in locating the relatives of the late Carbonell and dela Vina ahead of their Hall of Fame enshrinement tentatively set on November 22 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
Carbonell was a member of the Philippine team that won a bronze medal in the 1954 World Championship, the highest placing an Asian team has ever achieved until today.
Dela Vina, meanwhile, won a discus throw gold medal in the 1966 Asian Games.
Carbonell and Dela Vina will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame along with Lydia De Vega-Mercado, Paeng Nepomuceno, Bong Coo, Boy Codinera, Ambrosio Padilla, Ben Arda, Lita dela Rosa, and Erbito Salavarria.
